4 EXT. / INT. / OVER-THE-EDGE CAFÉ
Charley is running out of the café to find the man. There
is something about this man that makes Charley uncomfortable, but he not sure what it is. Charley runs to the window where
the man was standing. He is gone. Charley runs to the alley that is next to the café, and the man is still gone.
CHARLEY
(angrily)
Darn!
Charley doesn’t understand. What is this man doing
and how does he get away so fast. Charley had seen him before...it was when he was 12 years old.
5 INT. / EXT. / CHARLEY’S BEDROOM / FLASHBACK
Charley is lying in bed. He is 12 again, and is trying to
fall asleep. His parents have turned the light out and all that is left is the night light. Suddenly, the night light goes
out.
12-YEAR-OLD
CHARLEY (scared)
Mommy?
There is a rumble by his closet.
12-YEAR-OLD
CHARLEY (scared)
Daddy?
Suddenly, the rumble gets louder and louder until his closet
doors fall down. In front of him lay a shadow, a very dark, tall, midnight
black shadow that is staring at him.
The glistening eyes of the shadow just keep staring at him.
Charley is frightened.
12-YEAR-OLD
CHARLEY (frightened)
Stop looking
at me! Go away! GO AWAY!
The shadow emerges from the closet. It gets up to Charley
and he screams. The shadow retracts and makes its way back to the closet. The doors shut and the night light goes back on.
Charley falls asleep again shivering in a cold sweat.
6 EXT. / INT. / OVER-THE-EDGE CAFÉ ALLEY-WAY
Drawing himself to the present, Charley begins to boil. This
shadow has been keeping him awake at night for the past 10 years.
CHARLEY
(to himself)
I’ve
got to catch this thing before this goes too far!
Charley gets into his car and drives to his office.
